2013 Louisiana Squires State Convention

Worthy State Officers, Counselors, Brother Knights, and Squires,
St. Anthony of Padua Squires Circle #5346, and Chief Counselor, Wayne Bonvillain will be hosting the 2013 Squires State Convention. The Convention will be held in Houma, Louisiana on June 7th, 8th, and 9th, 2013. Registration & Check in will be from 5:30PM- 6 PM on Friday. Hotel Check - in is at 3:00pm. (Friday and Saturday). We will have a busy weekend with training of officers position responsibilities, nomination of officers, recap of this past year, planning the activities for the upcoming fraternal year, Mass, Banquet & Awards, election of officers, and installation of officers to finish the weekend.
We need everyone to try and make this great, fraternal, yearend event. Squires, we need you to attend to help plan events for next year. Counselors and Brother Knights, we need you to bring the Squires to help determine the activities and who their State officers will be for the next fraternal year. Together we can make next year the best year ever. This will be a great way to get new Circles involved in state planning and meeting Squires from across the state. Below is an agenda of what will take place and times of convention activities.
There will be a Swamp Tour Saturday afternoon, for anyone wishing to attend. The tour will cost $5.00/per person.
The process for voting is as follows: You can have up to four (4) Voting Delegates for elections from your Circle. All 4 (four) voting delegates must be present in order for your circle to get 4 (four) votes. (Ex. If you have one (1) voting delegate present at Convention, your circle will get one (1) vote. ) All state officers attending Convention are not included as one of the four Voting Delegates. They each cast an individual vote. We will have ballots to vote for the nominated officer. All nominations are to be made for by another Squire and that squire must state his name and Circle number. Anyone running for an Officers position, should consider that he must attend as many State Squires activities and meetings as possible. We want you to consider becoming an officer by being active, not an Officer that does not attend events. Squires run the meetings and events, but this can’t happen unless you attend!
CONVENTION ATTIRE (*new)
2013 State Convention Dress Code:
Friday Evening: Casual
Saturday (Morning Session): Casual/ NO Shorts
On Saturday, during the morning session Squires may wear (long) Jeans and T-Shirt.
Saturday (Mass and Banquet): Dressy Casual
On Saturday, for mass and the banquet, Squires can wear jeans/cargo pants or slacks, and polo or dress shirts. NO T-Shirts!
Sunday (Elections): Casual/NO Shorts
Sunday’s dress code will be the same as Saturday morning, Squires may wear (long) Jeans and T-Shirt.
Sunday (for State Officers & Squires running for state office): Dressy Casual
Squires can wear jeans/cargo pants/ polo shirts & Casual (leather) shoes. No T-Shirts! No Tennis Shoes!
*Note: State Officers & State Committeemen should be prepared to stay for photos on Sunday after elections.
CONVENTION HOTEL INFORMATION
The Convention Hotel is the Howard Johnson Hotel on 105 Lamar Street, Houma, LA 70360. We have 17 rooms reserved. Chief Counselors, Please let us know how many hotel rooms you need for your circle (by entering that information on the online registration app.) If you decide to print and mail in your Convention registration information, you will have to email convention@louisianasquires.org with the number of rooms you need prior to JUNE 3rd ! You will then receive an email from us with the confirmation numbers for your hotel rooms.
The hotel room group rate is $79.95/ per night. THE STATE IS PAYING FOR ONE ROOM, PER CIRCLE, FOR ONE NIGHT. The rooms have 2 Queen beds and check in time is 3:00 PM Friday or Saturday and checkout is Sunday at 11:00 AM (best to check out Sunday morning before elections).

All meals will be available at the convention. If there are any special requirements for any meals please list those requirements under the food considerations section of the Convention Registration app.

Parents and children are welcome to attend the Mass and Banquet Saturday evening with the Squires.
2014 CONVENTION T-SHIRTS
We have T-Shirts for sale at $5 a shirt for S-XL and $7 2XL-5XL. Please use the secure Convention registration app to order shirts for your circle. When ordering the shirts online, through the app, you will need a credit/debit card to pay. If you wish to pay with a check, please print the shirt order form below and mail it in to the Squires Chairman, George Martin no later than MAY 31, 2013. We are not ordering extra shirts this year, so please order your shirts prior to May 31st if you wish to have them.
