Worthy State Officers, Squires, Counselors, and Parents,
We will have our annual Squires Retreat on January 20, 21, & 22, 2012 in Hammond, LA. We will start registering Friday Night and sleep over night at the KC Hall at the above address. Please eat before you arrive as they will not serve a meal Friday Night. Please bring sleeping gear and a change of clothes so you will be comfortable during the weekend. Saturday morning we will have breakfast and leave to attend the Baton Rouge Pro Life March to the Capitol steps. We will provide transportation to and from the event. After the Pro Life March, we will have Lunch and continue our Retreat with Fr. Keith Landry and possibly a guest speaker. We will have Mass at the KC Hall and dinner to follow. We will continue with the retreat with open quorum where Squires can ask questions among other Catholic young men that will give them a chance to share information when most may not have that opportunity.
Sunday we will have breakfast and wrap up the Retreat with more activities as we would plan to finish before lunch. We will have a shirt for each Squire that attends the Retreat, two Catholic Booklets that will help them practice their beliefs, food and drinks, fun activities, and fellowship with young men their own age that believe in one God. We will not charge any fees for this Retreat to allow more Squires to attend this great event.
How do we register and what do we need to bring? First, please fill out the attendance form provided below by listing all Squires attending and a minimum of two Counselors per Circle. We will follow Diocese Guidelines for sleeping arrangements. Sleeping Gear, cot, air mattress, sleeping bags, blankets, and etc. are basic items each person must provide. Dress Code for the weekend casual dress is expected, but, is comfortable. No “holes in jeans or saggy pants’, please be respectful of others. Please bring warm clothing for our March as we will be outside for several hours. You will be able to bring video games and I pods and will be permitted Friday night only. We want this event to be fun, but definitely a time to reflect on religious life as Catholic.
Please contact Joey for directions if needed, or have any questions about the facility. Please email me with your registration form so we can get an accurate head count. Please send this no later than January 10, 2011. My email address is george.martin@louisianasquires.org and my phone number is 337-552-5769 if you have questions.
